Fans of Netflix’s television series ‘The Crown’ have taken to social media to complain about the show’s latest plot twist being revealed: she dies in the end.
The Crown is a historical television drama about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Season 5 is about to be released, but recent spoilers over the show’s ending – the death of Queen Elizabeth at age 96 – has fans turning away from the show.
One fan wrote, “I cannot believe they would give away the ending like this!”
Another wrote, “I am in shock. I’m not going to watch anymore.”
Producers of the show have been left dumbfounded and are deeply apologetic, “Whoops! Our bad. Sorry, everyone. We literally did not see this coming.”
The show is in crisis-talks about how it can proceed without its star subject and win back viewers. One suggestion is they refocus the show to star the next in line, the Queen’s first-born Corgi. Another is that they follow the chronicle the Queen’s journey into the afterlife.
A spokesperson for Netflix, Nate Wonder, has made a fitting tribute.
“It’s a tragedy. Our condolences go out to the friends and fans of the show. But in tough times, we must come together. Come together and watch our favourite television programs… Provided they are being streamed on our own account and not stolen off parents or former housemates.”
