“Seriously! I was shocking.”
Lena Reddy, 35, has recently become sober. While the Advertising Executive is happy with her decision, she wants to make it clear that she is not being dramatic or jumping on a wellness bandwagon: she was a legit big drinker. Seriously.
Today, when trying to discuss a new client, Lena’s colleague Sam was surprised to receive a full rundown of Lena’s new sober status.
Sam told Babbler, “All I did was ask how her weekend was, and I got the full story that she hit rock bottom when she nearly drove her car into the garage door.”
Lena said, “Oh, I was under the limit, I hadn’t even been drinking that day, but still. I just knew I had to make a change. Alcohol was controlling my life.”
Lena is proud of what she has managed to achieve. “It wasn’t easy. But I’ve been sober for two weeks and I have never felt better! Trust me, I absolutely needed to get sober; big boozy-Baggins over here!”
Lena admits her sober journey is her favourite topic of conversation.
“I think my journey can really inspire people, but at the same time, I need them to take me seriously. I had a problem. Some weekends, I would drink up to two glasses of wine!”
