“Jeez, Love. You’ve stacked on a few!” Ted Winter told daughter, Holly Winter, 32, today.
The Winter family got together for a long-awaited meal at the family home in Albury after months separated by lockdown.
Upon seeing Holly get out of the car, her weight gain was the first thing out of her perceptive father’s mouth.
Holly was grateful. She had been blissfully unaware that she was carrying extra kilos. The public servant said, “I’m lucky Dad told me. If he hadn’t, I’d have been walking around like a big fatty-boomba. Embarrassing!”
Holly can now concede that after months in lockdown, she may have reached for the Tim Tams and Chardonnay more than usual.
Holly continued to sing her father’s praises, “One of the good things about Dad is he doesn’t beat around the bush. He doesn’t ask about my job or how my mental health is after not encountering a single human being in the flesh for the past four months. He gets straight to what’s important.”
That night, Ted made sure there were no hard feelings. As the family tucked into dessert, Mum’s signature pavlova, Ted gave Holly a wink, “No seconds for you, hey, Hol? Nah, I’m just kidding, go on have some… If you think you need it.”
