Nadia Attali has had a testing day with her two children, Theo, 6, and Evie, 3.

“As I drained the dinosaur pasta and watched Theo put his sister in a headlock, all I could think about was 7pm; when I could put them to bed.”

Once the children were finally in bed, the single-mum settled down with her phone to relax. Soon, she was scrolling through her camera reel, which has over ten thousand photos of her children.

Before she had kids, Nadia would relax by socialising with friends or hitting the gym. Now, each night she spends hours looking at photos of her children. She will look at memories captured that day, and if she’s feeling sentimental, she’ll often do a deep-dive into her favourites reel.

“They bickered all through their bath. When, after storytime, Evie took her nappy off and peed on the carpet, I snapped and sent them both to bed at 6.50pm.” Nadie indicates to her phone, “But look how cute Evie was when we went to the Aquarium.”

The house is quiet and Nadia is reflective.

“All day Theo was grabbing my phone to watch YouTube. At one point, I roared at him, ‘No more screen time!’ and snatched the phone off him. I feel terrible about it now… Look how happy he was on his first day of school.”

By 11pm Nadia has concluded that her children are the most adorable children in the world and she is a terrible mother. She told Babbler, “I really miss them.”

As she checked on them before bed, she lovingly stroked Evie’s face, waking the toddler. Nadia panicked that Evie would now want her, and dropped to the ground and commando-rolled out of the room.
