“… AND THE NOMINEES ARE…”
Hollywood award ceremonies have announced they will now include a new category for ‘Biggest Abuser’. Inspired by this year’s awards season, it was agreed that it’s more efficient to put all abusers into one category rather than hiding behind other achievements like Best Song, Best Comedy Album or Best Actor.
A spokesman for The Hollywood Award Ceremonies Society (HACS), Vince Ringwort said, “Times up. Hollywood needs to modernise. Putting the abusive Hollywood elite into one category at award ceremonies means we can compare like-for-like, and reward their abhorrent behaviour accordingly.”
This year, the Grammys was marred with controversy for supporting abusive men. Marilyn Manson, who is facing abuse allegations, was a nominee, while Kanye West – who was banned from performing at the Grammys for threatening behaviour – won best rap song. Louis CK – who abused women and then ruined their careers – won Best Comedy Album. While at the Oscars, Will Smith won Best Actor after he slapped Chris Rock in the face.
Vince Ringwort said, “There are your classic Hollywood abusers, like Woody Allen, Roman Polanski and Bill Cosby, but it’s exciting to see a new generation of abusers in the spotlight; Louis CK, Kanye West, Chris Brown. Plus, there are many more that aren’t public yet as they’re still being protected by the structural institutions and individuals that support them.”
